Weekend Movies ...

Metro …

When the first ad of Metro (life in a metro) came in on TV … my first thought was of a movie – thriller – filmed on a Metro rail – which had been talk of the town then … be it in Delhi, Bangalore, or Mumbai (Kolkata is a old time in this case) … later did I realized it being about the metropolitan culture!

To be frank I was shocked to see the entire script of a play being used here – word by word … scene by scene … almost one part of the movie is about that … I wrote about this play here – "Chabi", directed by Dinesh Thakur (@Prithvi, Mumbai).
Overall the movie was good … little on the extremes but well scripted … but again … the end was lousy. Further, I can agree to the young generation part of the movie, but oldies … Nah!!! That’s something difficult to digest …
Cheeni Kum …

This is one of the sweet movies that have come in recent times … very simple, romantic, elegant and flavored with powerful acting of all the 5 characters … yes including the little kiddo … it tells you how a movie without a good story can be made and made well.

It’s a two thumbs up … a must watch … the timing of the dialogs, selection of characters, and sequencing of the scenes … perfect … Sweet with sugarfree … :D

I too have reservations …

Last week a couple of communities of Rajasthan literally took the state on ransom, in fact extended the violent protests to the national capital… and protest for what – getting “upgrade” (or rather down grade) to Schedule Tribe (ST) class from OBC – just because the percentage of communities in OBC are more resulting in more competition … and other objecting the same as their monopoly will get a competition … this is most ridiculous protest I have seen so far in Indian politics … kids who don’t even know what they are protesting for – worse even the youth who didn’t care what’ll result of their protest … are ready with a sword in their hands and destructing the infrastructure and hurting people across … the surprise factor is that their leader is well educated (one of them being doctor! – a life savior) instigating youth and kids to take up law in their hands … this is a bit too much of manipulating the legal system …

Understandably there are flaws in the system … especially in deciding the boundaries and rational for any community to get a class/caste definition … but taking a couple of states and national capital on ransom – calling for strike … is pure taking law in the hands and should be punished with harshly. But then how do you decide who was there in the “mob” … In my opinion the leaders should be put behind the bars in the first place and anyone who comes for opposition should be followed with the suite … a protest like this should be treated with open fire … I know this is going a bit extreme – but then these people were no less on the streets …

Further, all those politicians who lured the ignorant public for their upgrade/downgrades of the caste systems should be questioned and thrown out of the parliament/assembly … as there should not be any place for those who don’t even care about the existing system and without knowing and understanding the impact of their statements, try to promise heaven on earth … something which is not possible …

One thing which really went over my head was that one of the communities in the case was referencing it’s role in the 1857 war … I say “bullshit” … their fore fathers did a great job agreed … what have they done to deserve anything … not at least this …
