Thrilled …
Last fortnight I saw two thrillers …
- Layer Cake (Daniel Craig, Matthew Vaughn)
- Departed (Leonardo DiCaprio,Matt Damon,Jack Nicholson,Mark Wahlberg,Martin Sheen)
Amazing movies … both of them based on mafia … are a MUST SEE if you like thrillers …
A bit of caution: both have bloody brutal action and language!!

On the contrary …
Saw “Guru” last weekend … and my review for the movie is on the other side of the popular one… no doubt about the technical aspects … to the perfection …
However, with little (almost nil) knowledge about the life history of Dhirubhai and having bias of other reviews and comments so far … my expectations with the Mani Ratnam movie was way too high. There were many instances which could be done away with … like two song / dance sequence with ash … (no enmity with her) … but in a movie like this … the intro dance of ash seemed just out of place. Further, the dance at the time of separation of the couple … a dance with a happy note seemed out of context; though the song was extremely good and was perfect with the sequence, should have been filmed in a different way … then again towards the end … a person coming out of paralysis in two weeks time seems really “filmy” …

Why is it that most of the recruiters (read recruitment / resource managers) don’t have even a vague idea of what they are calling candidate for … further when the interview takes place … the direction of the discussion is way too different than the expectations set! Worst still, with multiple rounds happening, each of the rounds talks of contradicting roles!! … Seemingly they too don’t know what for they are interviewing any candidate for …
It is not the first time that I have faced this scenario … a lot of my friends also go through the same … and it just reminds me of a cartoon displaying a simple IT scenario of customer requirement and delivery of a swing!
Another issue I face with recruiters is, that they will put you into something that you have been doing … and not a level above based on the past scenario … (well this is a bit of catch-22 scenario) … and further they’ll definitely not hire you for a different role – relevancy of the work-ex (I wonder how to define a relevancy of the prior work ex in a particular field – especially in the case of management roles) …
