Lead India … another entertainment???

I had little hope about the program started by the Times Group that it will bring some good ideas and provide good people a platform to represent their ideas and create inspiration for others.

Bringing in Anupam Kher (an actor) … was the first level of disappointment. He, as expected tried to dramatize the concept itself … ending it diluting the whole! In fact any other actor would not have justified that position … it should have been any composed anchor / journalist (my best bet – Pranoy Roy) … thankfully they chose judges fairly decent …

The first two episodes were simply introductions; however, the third episode gave my all hopes in vain. Another competition with votes!!! Making the whole concept nothing but an entertainment set … the competition is all about finding the one leader ... who's to lead India ... you can't do that in this set ... simply these guys are different in themselves ... if at all they need to be tested ... we should get them debate on issues and their solutions ... and then let the panel debate and decide who could win the competition. I am still against Kher's dialog of "hamara (desh ka) neta kaisa ho ... " ... and what was Akshaya Kumar doing at that platform ...

I think what India needs today is not one leader, but a team of such leaders … in fact, bring in the top 3 leaders from each of the 8 locations (that's team of 24 leaders) and provide them with the agenda and little funding help (not the entire funding … the investments need to come from sponsors and may be self) and let them form a complete team and distribute the work according to their strengths and weakness and put their heart on the development.

One thing that was common in the first four participants that were introduced was, that all of them looked to revamp/ put some effort on creating individual development and empowerment by either education or vocational programs … however, the later four were more on the belief on ‘lets do it’ … I think we need a team with both kinds of people who on one hand look into the present and work to bring in harmony and also those who look for the future and work towards it … and that’s the best way forward …

But, I still feel there are a lot of hurdles… especially from the government and bureaucrats as the ideology works against corruption and towards the development … development of stronger and healthy system and not the economy of own! What is required is support from the younger gen politicos (like Rahul Gandhi, J Scindhiya, Milind, Pilot, ...) and corporates added with guidance of experienced Leaders like Murthy, Premji, Ratan Tata, KM BIrla, Ambanis, ...

Just hope things work out in a better direction ...

Comments:
i went out and saw one episode of Lead India after reading your post. Sadly, i found the program very typical and TRP oriented. You cannot seriously believe they have any intention of changing the world. At best, it tries to rustle up RDB fervor on TV. At worst, it is a backdoor entry for wannabe politicians. i wish they'd let TV be used for programs like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and Dekh Bhai Dekh-- pure entertainment with no disguises!! :-)
