Small Wonders…
It’s a week now since the Valentine’s Day! After reading Baba’s blog I gave some pondering moments over it… and I kind of agree with it… I think today people are taking a bit too far the meaning of the V-day.
Yes you are right! … I don’t have a valentine yet, but frankly I think I am lucky not to have one. If I had to go through the pains of making sense of non-sense I would have gone crazy by now. I think if you love someone you don’t need a V-day to express your feelings and thoughts. You can always do so anytime. Actually, I found that anything done to your love without a reason go far deeper than what you do on V-day. It’s more like a gimmick as if, you are doing it because everyone is doing it, though you might not be willing to do so… you don’t have to prove it big… small things wonders well, and actually these small things are the ones which makes moments to cherish through the life…
Y’day I saw an oldie-goldie movie “Chhoti si Baat” … and that made my stand more firm on this aspect of love. If we look back into the time, it’s hardly a decade since the V-day craze started in India. Initially, when people actually didn’t have time to spend with their love, it was a good means of showing their feelings atleast for that day. However, as time changed, the event has taken a different meaning altogether. It’s a show off business now. And businessmen are minting money out of this. I am just waiting for the moment when this V-day will become V-week ;)
But whatever happens, there will always be a magic in sharing moments and meaningless things of life … making them small wonders of life.

MNC vs. Local …
It’s just a week I joined Accenture (IDC), and I am having a feeling if I am at a right place to begin with. Having worked with Wipro, I am just trying to see the difference from a point where one company is one of the biggest in country and other is one of the biggest in the world … the culture… the people… the processes ad practices
In general when we join a company, we have certain expectations and apprehensions about the company… bigger (or better) the company … bigger the expectations… you can’t do without having standardized processes in place… but seems like larger companies have lager “lead times”! Moreover the processes in smaller companies are not only faster & smaller, but also the planning is also in place for the person to get into a comfort zone…
A person coming from a company which has all the processes placed and moving into a bigger giant, where he finds himself in a lot more “chaos” than his previous employer … it just rings a bell with a flashing “yellow” light… "WARNING! With caution! "
I think I am in midst of something similar situation… after being in Wipro and doing my two (ok one and a half) years in post grad, my expectation with Accenture was way too high (it being one among the biggest players in the world). Within a week, this warning signal is just flashing in my head and I am just hoping it’s just a init phase which will go off…
Let’s hope for a better tomorrow!!!

From page 1 to page 3 …
North-East-West-South: NEWS in short – the information around the four corners… today the meaning of this NEWS has gone from reality to popularity… truth to salable stuff … Whether it is TV or a newspaper … the news for which we waited for hear or read, is not there anymore… today its glamour… it is not why you are in news… but whether you are there… probably the best way to be in news is do anything idiotic and catch up with some media rep and Yo! You got famous!
Just saw the movie PAGE 3, and was wondering where our real journalism has gone! I found it pretty much depicting our true stands… some one rightly said – one step further and the movie could have been in dustbin creating a chaos around the circles!
Some minister had a sneeze… well that’s news while a man killed in daylight is a daily routine – what’s there to report! It’s a free press… whatever they wish they’ll publish…
There can’t be a privacy… everything one does has to be made public… relevant or irrelevant… making non-sense of things … a third meaning of the spoken words… well that’s today’s media… if one has a look into the page 1 – one doesn’t find anything apart from some silly ads and a few reports mostly consisting of political equations or some star making his stardom!
From that point of view page 3 supplies more material than he page 1… atleast some material for your eyes!!! And of-course fashion! ... Something better not worn! Moreover, it does provide the masala to chat and laze the day around …
People actually have started to realize that the news doesn’t consists of content and just is a newly adopted means of entertainment … accepted the fact that no news is good news… so laugh on other’s stupidity…
Unfortunately those agencies who even wishes to publish some content ... don’t survive. They strive hard to maintain their sanctity and integrity, alas! They end up either getting out of business or moving into the streamlined masala mix!
With the stress levels in the community raising high, I think this will continue and probably should continue for the benefit of masses.

Once in IT… always in IT…
It’s been long I wrote anything… not because I didn’t have anything to write, but more of my laziness… well of course courtesy… IT Industry ;)
I began my career in IT with Wipro Technologies in 1999, from campus placements of RECT. Being from a non-CS stream I never thought I would be doing anything good in the company as most of the RnD work is given to CS guys… and CS from RECT was no less than a brand in itself…
However, probably the God had something different in mind… I ended up doing something better than I thought… which was not coding!!! For the next 4 years I hardly did any coding … which I could say “yes! I did that!!” . I did lot of design and analysis work through out and in between some code enhancements, but never been a developer!
OK that was past… I moved on to do MBA (from NITIE) thinking that this might help me move out of the IT stream. Well by moving out of IT stream didn’t mean out of technology… but moving into more of a business/marketing role… Huh! things didn’t go that way! With my first interview with Accenture (well that’s IDC!) I realized, I might not be able to get into the area I am looking forward to… as placement process proceeded, and things began rolling… the business units didn’t find me suitable… for one of the main reasons as Wipro – 4 yrs… means heck of programming …. Alas! I had done some of it… SAP and TSMG not even short listing, and KPMG and E&Y not finding me fit! (too old! Or too much of ‘IT’ experience) … with IBM rejecting and Accenture giving me offer… I really didn’t had any choice left with me to make; I had to take Accenture
Had I not got Accenture, I could have tried for a different role with the regular IT brands. However, as things roll down, I am BACK in an IT company (so called consults to world wide) – proving the one liner…
