Bangalore … its’ flooded …
Past a couple of months, B’lore has been in the news… for all the wrong reasons…
One of the recent one's was the case of Nimish Adwani … (http://sbcbrutes.blogspot.com) – the Bangalore Brutalities…
Then Deve Gowda vs NRN Murthy… (this was really interesting!) a lot have been said on media… (a Big Fight on NDTV too)… so no further words…
And now, its RAINS! … past few days it has been pouring day and night… resulting in a havoc… the lakes (or so called lakes) have flooded and flown out on the streets… with bad (rather no) drainage system in place… lots of places are deep in water… the low lying areas are anyway drowned…
Just ref to TOI – B’lore (24/oct/05) front and third page of main paper…
One of the Wipro offices was almost 2-3 ft flooded with water… at the madiwala-hosur road flyover junction… it’s the literal CHAOS! … with one half of the road experiencing 2 ft water levels… and open drains… I just saw the longest traffic jams of my life… almost 5-7 kms long… (those from b’lore can imagine… from silk board to Novell office on hosur road)… and that was at 10:15 am in the morning… and there seems no end to it.
I managed to reach office (started at 7:35 am, reached at 10:35 am)… after being stuck in the BTM layout road for around 2.5 hrs…
But now I am wondering if I would be able to return!!!

Update:
Well I was lucky to return home within 2 hrs...
the second say morning was however swift compared the last day... for most of the individual traffic was cut and diverted through other routes (which got clogged later due to heavy inflow of traffic)...
though the time was shortened due to reduced flow of traffic, the water clogging hasn't shown much difference... with today's pour I fear it might swell more! :((

Stuck in the Midst…
I wish I had a house/flat in a good locality, with facilities and amenities around, where in I can do furnishing and decorations as I wished… I wish I had a good car ...not a limo… but more than Maruti 800 (I don’t have any as of now)… I wish …I wish…
*Thud*
Back to square one! All these wishes requires loads of money which I don’t have… and even I had the ability to go for loans and EMI plans… new things keep propping up forcing me down… *sigh*
It happened that my brother asked me if there was a major dent in my saving because of him coming over with me… I replied… saving was never there… but, yes a dent in my potential expenses…
*zzzz*
Me going home for Diwali… and I am damn scared… (need I tell you why!)

City Run...
Baba has tagged me… and has rightly pointed out about us being literal cosmopolitan… My initial years were at home and past few years … slightly more than a decade now… I have been out! …
From Birth to School…
Surrounded by three of the major cities of Uttar Pradesh – Lucknow, Kanpur, and Allahabad – Raebareli has been a place of interest for the politicians since independence. A township which has been constituency for the Gandhi family … has created a history in chapters of democracy by defeating the ruling Prime Minister from her favorite constituency (talking about Indira Gandhi). In the industrial map too it is marked for its Indian Telephone Industry (ITI) and several others like textile, sugar, paper, cables and Power (NTPC). Settled on the banks of river Sai and Ganga, Raebareli is populated with small farmers, businessmen and traders. Though the development of the city has been stranded because of political unrest … it still creates interest in the local political arena. (http://www.raebareli.com, http://raebareli.nic.in/). What ever… it is home sweet home!
I must also talk about my friendly neighbour – Lucknow… the city of Nawabs… Lucknow has it’s own charm and culture… even today when I go home… I make a proper visit here… one of the blogs have a much better description about Lucknow… <confusing musings>
My Second Home…
Better known as Mom’s place… Calcutta (Kolkota) is my second home… around a quarter of my childhood is spent in this 3 century old city. There was a time when I used to wait for my vacations to visit Calcutta… now it’s like once in two to three years… a beautiful city to spend a vacation… I still miss the local sweet – sandesh a lot.
A break…
After my 12th I spent a year in Delhi for the preparation for the dream run … of JEE (IIT)! Unfortunately, I couldn’t clear my JEE… however, I was lucky to get through one of the other prestigious institution REC Trichy. Delhi was the first step outside my home… and it was the turning point in my life… I used to live in south Delhi (Malviya Nagar) and used to get coaching in IITJEE Study Circle at Green Park (a locality near AIIMS and IIT). It was fun to begin my real bachelor life from one of the most happening cities… I had another visit to Delhi for a months duration while I was doing my Engg summers in C-Dot. There is no point elaborating what Delhi is … after all it’s the National Capital!
Student Life…
The first four years of my student life (graduation) were spent in a city better known as Rock-City – Tiruchirapalli (TN). The place was none other than REC Trichy (now known as NIT Trichy). The college was around 15km off the city limits. It is also known as industrial town of the state and has industries like BHEL, SRF, VKN, Distilleries … On the banks of Cauvery (Kaveri) it has also two of the very famous temples – Rock Fort Temple (Lord Ganesh) and Sri Rangam (Lord Vishnu). It is also very close to temple city Madurai and Tanjore (aka Thanjavur). However, there is something about this place which we used to hate it for… it didn’t have (and still)… winters… the climate is hot (in winters), hotter (in autumn and spring) and hottest (in summers)… The city is ever bustling with traders, businessmen, and industrialists. People out here are generally peaceful and content, and very friendly and helpful. The time spent during these four years has been a mark on the stone of my life…
My second stint was after four years of my job, in Mumbai – the dream city! Here I spent two years to get my post graduation in management. The two years were spent in a real green jungle which was located in the midst of concrete jungle… and NITIE was the destination. Whatever one may say… it is one of the most magical cities of the country… and even though the infrastructure is too inadequate to support the entire run, it still doing a marathon… However, it was not the first time I came to Mumbai… my first visit was a short one month when I did my engg summers in BARC!... things change … and keep changing…
The Land of Opportunities…
For anyone who’s related to IT… Bangalore is the city of Jobs and Opportunities! Also known as garden cities (though not many of them really survive now) … and city of Pubs… (which are really on the high since last decade)… Bangalore has grown exponentially and beyond anyone’s imagination… and that’s precisely why the infrastructure growth and been showing a negative curve! Today the city is populated with people across India… and steadily loosing its charm. However, the weather out here is still better than most of the cosmos – just cool.

Strike 3 – you’re OUT!!!
Last week we saw strikes all over… stalling the nation … and since sat’ evening the cable across Karnataka is on strike… yup the idiot box is shut!
Where are we going with this strike… on the Bapu’s day, I just realized that the concept of strike was popularized by Mahatma himself… which then was used for fighting against foreign rule… today is abused fighting with our own selves…
I am not entirely against strikes… but there should be a reasonable purpose … and more importantly the purpose should be understood by the concern parties. Whatever the reason may be the strike will hamper the life and the growth of any country… however if look deeper into the reasoning for the strikes happening … few of them actually are worth it. That means there is a set of major flaws prevalent which are then tried to cover under the carpet… forming policies as tactics and not as a strategies will result these condition…
However, the worst aspect that comes into front is that the situation doesn’t change much (rather at all) even after the demands for the strikes are met… I think people today should rationalize and then cooperate or abolish the strike itself … but those who want to fight against are really out-numbered by the people who want to enjoy the strike as another reason for a holiday
It’s time we HIT the ball out of the ground… (if we really want to win!) - the bigger Qs is HOW??

Living in …
It was last week when I saw “Salaam Namaste” … a beautiful comedy giving us an opportunity to learn a lesson … of life!
I might sound a bit too much of a philosophical… but if we see from a different paradigm the movie is a good way telling us the type of discomforts… compromises … commitments … being taken as granted … we face during different phases of life…
It illustrated two different relationships in contrasts with each other… one of live-in and other of a married (settled) relationship… there is no end love between each other in either of the relations … we do compromise in both the situations … however there was a point where the priority self takes precedence over family in case of live-in… on the other hand the “family” took a different direction to enjoy the moment and grow … unlike the self centered couple… and still there was love all around…
Its good to start as live-in and then go ahead settling down… for the very reason sighted in the movie… you remain in the cloud of making each other in a state of comforts… giving in more than they can take… being in love… then get settled when you realize that you just can’t live without each other…
Though with Indian cultural scenario, the above aspect seems a dream… quite a few of us would have a gf/bf to begin and when get settled things turn out relatively different than expected … more often because of high level of expectations and being granted! The rest of us will start our venture in an arranged marriage where in be the time you get to know each other (and compatibility) … it’s too late… you are parents of two and don’t have time for any such stupidities! There is greater level of acceptance with each other in the latter arrangement …
Whatever the arguments… I know I’ll be doing nothing but following the latter :D … more so because of the social pressures !!
